After 5 long years PKKK has finally been able to hold its 8th National Congress last October 13-14, 2022, and with it comes the celebration of PKKK’s 19th Anniversary! Established back in 2003, the Pambansang Koalisyon ng Kababaihan sa Kanayunan (PKKK) has continually devoted service into empowering rural women to claim their rights, gender and development in agrarian communities. With the world still under lockdown because of Covid-19, the fight for climate and gender justice still continues despite difficult challenges- with this PKKK’s 8th Congress theme was “Padayon, Babae sa Nayon sa Hamon ng Panahon: Hustisya sa Klima, Pagkain, at Kalusugan, Ipaglaban!”

During the 8th Congress many of PKKK’s allies such as Sen. Risa Hontiveros, Hazel Tanchuling of Rice Watch Action Network, and partner networks gave messages of solidarity for PKKK and its mission to fight climate change and establish national food sovereignty with the help of our rural women in agriculture. A new Executive Committee was elected from members of the Provincial Coalition; PKKK’s newly elected President is Janel Geconcillo, 1st Vice President: Marilou Rafa, 2nd Vice President: Lucelyn Buhisan, Sec. General: Fe Manapat, Treasurer: Imelda Limueco, Auditor:
Divina Cesar, and Edna Manalang as Public Relations Officer.
