Felisa Ramasta Castro is a woman from Barangay San Roque, municipality of Salcedo in Eastern Samar
province. She’s 53 years old, married with three children: the eldest is 25 years old, the second child is 22
years old, and the youngest is 18 years old. She’s currently the president of Kusog han Kababayen-an han
Salcedo (KAKASA), a federation of rural women’s organizations composed of 36 rural women’s
associations. Kusog han Kababayen-an han Salcedo literally means “The Strength of Women in Salcedo”.

Lorna Dela Pena Case Study

Lorna Dela Pena is a woman from Barangay Tinabanan, municipality of Marabut in Samar province. She’s
63 years old, widowed with seven children: the eldest is 39 years old, the second child is 35 years old, the
third child is 33 years old, the fourth child is 31 years old, the fifth child is 28 years old, the sixth child is
25 years old, and the youngest is 23 years old. She’s currently the President of Marabut Women’s
Federation, the board of director of Unhan Kababayen-an han Tinabanan Organization (UKTO), and
member of women-led DRR committee in her community.

Luchie Corales Case Study

Luchie Corales is a woman from Barangay Palaypay, municipality of Basey in Samar province. She’s 39
years old, and part of women-led DRR committee and GBV watch group in their barangay council, and a
member of their women’s association, Palaypay Women’s Association (PAWA). She’s married with two
sons: the eldest is 21 years old and currently in third year in college, and the youngest is already 19 years
old and an incoming freshman in college.
